When is Steam maintenance?
Valve typically schedules Steam maintenance on Tuesday around 4:00 PM Pacific Time, which is roughly 00:00 UTC Wednesday. Exact start times can drift by several minutes, and major sales or game launches sometimes extend the window.
On SteamStatus.app we also surface a maintenance banner for audiences in Portugal / Western Europe when Tuesday evening local time overlaps the usual Valve window, so you are not surprised by login or Store interruptions.
What usually goes offline
During maintenance you may see Steam login failures, a Store that will not load, Community features (friends, inventory, trading) timing out, slow or stuck downloads, and temporary game coordinator issues for titles like CS2 or Dota 2. Already-downloaded single-player games can often still run in Steam offline mode.
How long does Steam maintenance last?
Most weekly windows clear in about 15–30 minutes. If Store, Community, or login stay red for much longer on our live status page, treat it as an unexpected outage and watch outage history for recovery patterns.
